How it all started
It was the roaring 20s, and the textile industry was booming – especially in North West England. A budding entrepreneur, Harry Trevor Hughes (or “grandad” as we knew him) returning from his adventures in South America with a bag of uncut diamonds, used that money to set up a small clothing factory in Salford with his business partner Mr W. P. Jackson.
While things have certainly grown from there, we continue to offer the same core services, using state of the art printing and embroidery techniques to produce custom branded clothing for businesses big and small.
A real family business
Fast forward to present day, and HT Hughes is still a proud family business. Our small, tight-knit team are experts on every aspect of the custom clothing industry.
We handle each and every order personally to ensure our customers get the best possible end result. No branded workwear project is too big or small.

Our facilities
From our current facilities in Stockport – just outside Manchester – we use state of the art equipment to print and embroider bespoke workwear for all kinds of companies.
We like to start every order with a quick conversation, so make sure to reach out and let us know what you need. Once we have your requirements, we’ll set to work and send photos for you to approve. And after we get the thumbs up, it’s over to production.
Before you know it, your delivery will be on its way. We offer fast UK mainland shipping, free of charge for online orders over £100, using a signed for service provided by DHL.
Always accountable
We’re serious about social accountability, taking our responsibility to our employees – and the employees of our suppliers – extremely seriously.
All the products under the HT Hughes label are manufactured under our strict labour laws, in factories certified to SA8000. We also monitor and personally inspect our suppliers’ factories regularly.
SA8000 is a global social accountability standard for decent working conditions. Developed and overseen by Social Accountability International (SAI), it ensures that workplaces respect their employees, do not use child labour, pay them fairly, and meet strict health and safety standards.
